Apr 10, 2017 What is a String? It is simply just a word. Strings are all around us. Like dog, cat, etc. A more formal definition would be the following: it is a series of characters that has a varying length. Needless to say, strings are one of the most important concepts in programming. Before we dive in, I would like to address those experienced only in high level languages such as Java, Python. The documentation for this class was generated from the following file: opencv2/core/cvstd.hpp.
Overview
A custom string class that implements strings in the C/C++environment without NULL termination. It is a proper objectthat contains the string data and its length. Using these,both read and write methods are provided, as well asother expected string commands, such as upcasing, downcasing,or character indexing.
An improvement for this exercise would be to incorporate morestring methods, such as those exemplified in the Python stringclass: https://docs.python.org/3/library/string.html
This project does not attempt to provide an improvementover C strings or the C++
string library. This is purely forpedagogical purposes.

The C-Style Character String
The C-style character string originated within the C language and continues to be supported within C++. This string is actually a one-dimensional array of characters which is terminated by a null character '0'. Thus a null-terminated string contains the characters that comprise the string followed by a null.
The following declaration and initialization create a string consisting of the word 'Hello'. To hold the null character at the end of the array, the size of the character array containing the string is one more than the number of characters in the word 'Hello.'
If you follow the rule of array initialization, then you can write the above statement as follows −

Actually, you do not place the null character at the end of a string constant. The C++ compiler automatically places the '0' at the end of the string when it initializes the array. Let us try to print above-mentioned string −
